The short version

You do not need an account to use I Ching Explained. Your readings are saved in your own browser's local storage and are never transmitted to us. We do not sell personal data.

What we store

• Your journal — readings you choose to save are kept in your browser's localStorage under the key icj.journal.v1. Clearing your browser data deletes them permanently. We cannot read them, recover them, or back them up.
• No server-side profile — there is no login, no email capture required to use any feature, and no database of readings.

Cookies and advertising

Advertising is not yet enabled on this site. The provisions below describe what applies when display advertising is turned on.

Display advertising on this site is served by Google AdSense and its partners. Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.

• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can also opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info.

Affiliate links

Some pages may contain affiliate links — for example to editions of the I Ching or to coin sets. If you buy through one, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. We only link to things we would recommend anyway, and affiliate relationships never change what a page says.

Analytics

If analytics are enabled, they are used in aggregate to understand which pages are useful. We do not attempt to identify individual readers.

Your rights

Because we do not hold personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on your behalf. If you are in the EEA, UK, Switzerland or California and believe we hold information about you, contact us and we will respond within 30 days.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
